At Beekeeper Collection, safeguarding your well-being in the apiary is our highest concern, and an essential element of that protection is a beekeeping suit that fits you properly. The right suit not only defends against stings but also allows you the mobility needed to work comfortably and confidently with your bees. To ensure you obtain the optimal size, we provide a complete measuring guide that will assist you in taking accurate, individualized measurements.

Follow the steps outlined below to obtain the most precise results.

What You Will Need:

  • A flexible measuring tape, preferably cloth or soft plastic.
  • A pen and a dedicated piece of paper for recording dimensions.
  • A friend to assist you during measuring (this is optional but can enhance accuracy).

Dress in light, fitted clothing so that the tape can be placed directly against your body. Avoid measuring over layers of bulky garments.

General Measuring Recommendations for Maximum Precision:

  • Stand at your natural height, with your shoulders at ease.
  • Position the tape so that it is comfortably snug against your form; it should not compress the skin.
  • Take each measurement twice, and compare the two for consistency.
  • If you land between the whole number measurements, always round up to the next full inch or centimeter to ensure ease of movement and the option to wear additional layers underneath.

Key Measurements for Your Beekeeping Suit:

Please use the diagrams (inserted on your page, if applicable) together with the guidance that follows for every specific measurement:

  • Chest: Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest/bust, running the tape directly beneath your armpits. Ensure the tape remains horizontal across your back and odometer part of your shoulder blades.
  • Waist: Locate your natural waistline, the narrowest part of your torso, normally situated just above your belly button. Circle the tape around this point without pulling excessively tight; allow space for one or two fingers to slide beneath the tape comfortably.
  • Hips: Measure the fullest circumference of your hips and buttocks. Stand with your feet together and keep the measuring tape parallel to the floor.
  • Inseam: From the crotch seam, run the tape directly downward to the location where you wish the bottom of the suit’s leg to finish (usually just above the anklebone or the onset of your beekeeping boots). It is advisable to measure the inseam of a pair of well-fitting trousers that you intend to wear beneath your suit.
  • Sleeve Length (from Shoulder to Wrist): Position the tape at the apex of your shoulder (where a shoulder seam would occur on a standard shirt) and measure straight down to your wrist. Measure from the prominent bone of your wrist to the midpoint between your elbow and shoulder. When we cut sleeves for beekeeping suits, we generally install an extra inch or so to guard the wrist against stings while allowing movement.
  • Torso Length (From Neck Base to Crotch): This dimension is especially critical for one-piece designs. Position the tape at the base of the neck, precisely where the neck attaches to the shoulder. Draw the tape down your back, between your legs, and back up the front to the same neck base. This circular route guarantees that the garment has sufficient height; for an alternative, measure straight down the front, crossing the chest and belly, to the same crotch point.
  • Shoulder Width: With your arms relaxed, run the tape straight across your upper back from the outer edge of one shoulder blade to the outer edge of the other.

Matching Your Measurements with Our Size Chart

After you have recorded your measurements, please consult our comprehensive size chart located on each product description and on the dedicated Size Chart page. Choose the size that corresponds with your largest measurement. When your measurements fall between two sizes, we usually advise opting for the larger size to afford greater comfort and ease of movement, particularly if you plan to wear additional clothing underneath your suit.

A well-fitting suit ensures comfort and, equally important, contributes to your safety and protection while you work the hives.
