Measuring Guide
At BeekeeperCollection, safeguarding your well-being in the apiary is our highest concern. A beekeeping suit that fits properly is an essential element of that protection. The right suit not only defends against stings but also allows the mobility needed to work comfortably.
Follow our comprehensive guide below to ensure you obtain the optimal size for your safety and comfort.
What You Will Need
- A flexible measuring tape (cloth or soft plastic).
- A pen and paper to record your dimensions.
- Pro Tip: Ask a friend to assist you to ensure the tape stays level and accurate.
- Note: Wear light, fitted clothing during measurements. Avoid measuring over bulky garments.
Key Measurements for Your Beekeeping Suit
1. Chest Wrap the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest, running it directly beneath your armpits. Ensure the tape remains horizontal across your back and shoulder blades.
2. Waist Locate your natural waistline (the narrowest part of your torso, usually just above the belly button). Circle the tape around this point. Allow enough space for one or two fingers to slide beneath the tape for a comfortable fit.
3. Hips Stand with your feet together and measure the fullest circumference of your hips and buttocks. Keep the tape parallel to the floor.
4. Inseam Measure from the crotch seam straight down to where you want the suit leg to finish (usually just above the ankle bone).
5. Sleeve Length Position the tape at the apex of your shoulder and measure down to your wrist. We typically add an extra inch to our sleeves to ensure your wrists stay protected even when your arms are bent.
6. Torso Length (Crucial for One-Piece Suits) Measure from the base of the neck (where it meets the shoulder), down the front of the body, through the crotch, and back up to the starting point. This ensures the suit is long enough for you to bend and move without restriction.
General Recommendations for Precision
- Stand Natural: Keep your posture straight but relaxed.
- Don’t Compress: The tape should be snug but should not squeeze the skin.
- Round Up: If your measurement falls between two numbers, always round up to the next full inch or centimeter. This allows for movement and extra clothing layers underneath.
- Double Check: Take each measurement twice to ensure consistency.
Matching with Our Size Chart
Once recorded, please consult the Size Chart found on each product page. Always choose the size that corresponds with your largest measurement. If you are between sizes, we strongly advise opting for the larger size for maximum ease of movement.
